Ha Long has many ports, each serving different cruise routes, and it’s easy to get lost if you don’t know where your ship departs from. That’s why Viet Sail Cruise is here to guide you.
To save you the stress of arriving at the wrong port or rushing between locations, we’ve prepared a simple and up-to-date summary of the three main cruise ports in Ha Long: Hon Gai Port, Tuan Chau Port, and Sun Group Port. With this guide, you’ll know exactly where to go and what to expect – so your cruise starts off smoothly from the very first step.
Location: Hon Gai, Ha Long City (near the city center)
Hon Gai International Port is the gateway to Bai Tu Long Bay, a quieter, cleaner, and more peaceful alternative to the classic Ha Long route. Many small cruise operators choose this port because of its easy access to less touristy areas and quiet cruise conditions.
The port is clean, tidy, and newly upgraded. Since it is not as crowded as other ports, procedures are quite quick and convenient. Moreover, traffic around the port is also smoother, especially on weekends or holidays.
Although close to the city center, visitors staying in Bai Chay will need to travel across the bridge. The distance is not far, but it takes longer than the ports in Bai Chay.

Location: Tuan Chau Island
Tuan Chau Port is the largest and most traditional departure point in Ha Long. It used to be the main gateway for most cruise companies. Today, it is still very popular with day cruises and budget to mid-range overnight cruises.
The port complex is large, including restaurants, cafes, ticket counters, and lounges. However, due to the high number of cruise ships passing by, the area can get crowded during the holiday season. Check-in can take longer, and traffic jams are common at the entrance.

Location: Bai Chay Center (next to Sun World Complex). This is the port where Viet Sails Cruise is anchored.
Sun Group Port is the newest and most modern port in Ha Long. Located right in the center of Bai Chay, visitors staying at hotels along the coastal road can easily get here. The architecture is inspired by European design, with a spacious reception hall, quick check-in procedures, and stable passenger flow.
Compared to Tuan Chau, Sun Group Port is quieter, more modern, and more comfortable.

If you are looking for a boutique wooden cruise with cozy cabins, delicious onboard meals, a spacious sundeck, and a calm itinerary through Bai Tu Long Bay, Viet Sail Cruise is the perfect choice.
